Pawn Shop Owner Receives Several Engagement Rings

As a pawn shop owner, I have seen everything. People come in with the most interesting items that they want to exchange for cash. After working in this industry, nothing shocks me anymore. I once had a customer enter my store wanting to sell a sandwich, but I had him leave the store. The most common item I see at my store, are engagement rings. They are brought it mostly by women who are recently divorced and want to get rid of any reminders from their marriage. It is a great way to get some extra cash, and I could always use more jewelry in my shop. I have learned a lot about different engagement rings, and their cuts. I have seen several halo engagement rings, but those get traded very quickly.

I now have a princess cut engagement ring that I traded last week from a very sweet lady. Her husband passed away recently, and she needed some extra cash to help her pay the bills. She sadly had to trade in her ring, and I made sure to give her the best deal possible. People may think that pawn shop owners are sleazy and unfair, but I give all of my customers the fairest prices. I want to keep my customers happy and coming back, so I run a reliable business. I use word of mouth to advertise for my shop, so keeping a good reputation is necessary for business to keep booming. I often have the police stop by to check that I am running things legally, and I always greet them with a smile since I know everything is legal at my shop. Sometimes they will return with items to pawn out and we have a bit of a laugh. However, it is important for me to keep a well secured shop to prevent burglaries. Thieves know that I carry expensive items, like engagement rings, and I need to protect my goods. A few years ago, I was a bit careless and got robbed. The thief took various items, but the worst was a princess cut engagement ring that I just received that very morning. The halo engagement rings that I keep in the back were safe, but I’ll never forget that stolen ring. It definitely taught me my lesson to keep watch of everything, and never forget to use my safe. I installed new cameras and keep the door locked when I am in the back of the store. If people learn that I can be robbed, I will go out of business in no time.  Aside from that, I love every part of my job. I get to meet all different types of people from all across the world. All I have to do is stand in my store, and they walk right in. Each day is different and I love the challenge of finding the perfect price for an item.
